Who Pays after a Car Wreck?

This always gets mixed up at the hospital, urgent care, the doctor’s office, etc.

Which is surprising because it has a big impact on how providers are paid.

I’ve written out this information hundreds of times. But I don’t think that works for everyone. So I’ve put together a flow chart.

It may not seem totally intuitive, but here’s who pays (and in what order they pay) after a collision depending on what the injured person was doing, whether they were in their own vehicle, etc.

Sorting through this—along with property damage issues—are two of the first things that come up in most personal injury cases.
