Recovering Real Money For Emotional Injuries

It’s hard to bounce back after a car accident. The psychological impact can last longer than the physical injuries.

We represented a woman who was involved in a car accident. Her physical injuries (neck and back pain) were what you’d expect: she received chiropractic and massage treatment over four months and made a good recovery.

The most significant part of the case was the emotional impact. Providers diagnosed our client with PTSD. For months she suffered from nightmares, anxiety and difficulty sleeping. Her fear of another accident was disabling.

Counseling helped but she remained restricted. It took five months before she could even go past the intersection where the accident happened.

At first the at-fault driver’s insurance company made light of our client’s emotional injuries. We pressed on and the insurance company catapulted. It ended up paying more for her emotional than physical injuries.
